The Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Osun State chapter, queried the performance report of the state budget on Thursday, saying Governor Ademola Adeleke should, as a matter of urgency, exhibit fiscal discipline and responsibility to ensure socioeconomic growth of the state
It raised questions over the state’s third quaternary 2023 budget performance report, stressing that the governor must consider the allocation of Osun’s resources vis-à-vis critical priorities and revenues accruable to the state.

APM made these disclosures in a statement issued by its chairman, Mr. Wale Adebayo, which was forwarded to journalists.
Adebayo, who also doubles as the chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), said the party strongly condemns the alleged wasteful spending of over N6 billion by Adeleke and the N209 million expended on personal expenses in the office of the governor.
He said that “such colossal sums of money have been spent in a state where per capita income is extremely low, rather than utilising such funds to address pressing issues such as poverty alleviation, healthcare, education, and infrastructural development.
The statement reads: The breakdown of expenses, particularly the N2 billion spent on refreshment/meals and welfare packages for officials, raises serious questions about the accountability and transparency of the Osun State government.
“It is unjustifiable to spend such massive amounts on non-essential items while the people of Osun State continue to suffer from economic hardship and a lack of basic amenities.
“It is imperative for the state government to explain the rationale behind these excessive expenditures and justify the value derived from such investments.
The people of Osun State deserve a government that prioritises their welfare and demands fiscal prudence, “the APM chairman remarked.
Adebayo, however, said it is the collective duty of all stakeholders to raise concern and condemn in totality such wasteful practices to ensure a responsible and accountable government.
