Celebrating their 1-0 win over Colombia in the final of Copa America, the Albiceleste houyhnhnms of Argentina proved that Black players, particularly France forward Kylian Mbappe, live rent-free in their heads. They burst into the racist song originally sung by their fans condemning France’s black players during the 2022 World Cup. The lines: “Listen, spread the word, they play in France, but they are all from Angola, they are going to run well, they like to sleep with trans people, their mum is Nigerian, their dad is Cameroonian, but on the passport it says: French.” What should the winners of the Euros, a competition superior in every respect, have done? Call for the extermination of Black players? BBC, pandering to certain sensibilities, called the blatant racism “alleged”, but the New York Times carried this fitting headline: “Football’s silence over Argentina’s racist chanting is deafening and damning.” It’s no surprise: FIFA and officialdom’s adopted son can’t be queried. All hell would have broken loose if it was the other guy and his mates that had pulled off such a demonic stunt. The football chiefs are like the “fact-checkers” of America, totally limited by their political leaning.
In 1778, Africans constituted some 37 percent of the population of White Argentina, but today, they are less than 0.5 percent. Civil wars and disease deftly used by the government saw to that. If, by 1895, the population of Afro-Argentines was so negligible that the government couldn’t even be bothered to include them in the national census, it was all part of a grand plan. But let’s return to the present, where Midfielder Enzo Fernandez faces disciplinary proceedings at Chelsea after posting the damning video on social media. Fernandez has issued an apology I am inclined to believe is heartfelt, but Argentina’s president and vice president have chosen the path of defiance, dazed with the opium of racial superiority, as if any Argentine leader ever had half the IQ of Obafemi Awolowo. Apparently, Julio Garro, the under-secretary for sports, has more sense than President Javier Milei. Garro called on Lionel Messi and FA president Claudio Tapia to apologise for the disgraceful incident, which he rightly saw had “left us looking bad.” But Mileo, who is steadily leading the country down the drain with his bigotry and stupidity, booted Garro out of his position. Said his office: “No government can tell the Argentine national team, world champion and two-time champion of Copa America, what to comment, what to think or what to do.”
Vice President Victoria Villarruel was even more perverse. Hear her: “No colonialist country is going to intimidate us for a football song or for telling the truths that they do not want to admit. Stop feigning indignation, hypocrites. Enzo, I’m with you.” Villarruel then capped off her buffoonery with this claim: “We never had colonies or second-class citizens. We never imposed our way of life on anyone.” The illiteracy is staggering because Argentina is the country of colonialists par excellence. As the old Latin American joke says: “Peruvians descend from the Incas, Mexicans descend from the Aztecs, and Argentinians descend from the ships.” Those who came on those ships imposed themselves on the indigenous people, and would then go on to completely erase Blacks with the passage of time.
South American countries like Brazil, Ecuador and Uruguay have Black players in their squads, but Argentina would rather die than parade any Black players. Section 25, Chapter 1 of its constitution revealingly says: “The Federal Government will encourage European immigration; and will not restrict, limit, nor tax the entry of any foreigner into the territory of Argentina who comes with the goal of working the land, bettering industry, or introducing or teaching sciences or the arts.” To be sure, I have no problem with that, provided that Argentines don’t trash-talk Blacks, but that is what they consistently do. It’s no coincidence that they always make monkey gestures when their teams play Brazil in continental club competitions. Thankfully, Argentina will never match Brazil’s football pedigree. A black player, Pele, remains the only footballer to have won three World Cups.
Going by the logic of the Copa America clowns, Black Americans aren’t true Americans since they aren’t white, and Africans are somehow intrinsically and innately deprived by the fact of their own existence. That is why someone’s mother being Nigerian, a country with a rich footballing history, is anathema to Lionel Messi and his teammates, as well as to their country’s leadership. They are racists of the worst kind. The buffoonery becomes staggering when you consider the fact that France, the country they condemn for using Black players, is not really about to lose its White dominance. The blacks in France are less than 4 percent of the population. At least 85 percent of the French population is white. By Argentina’s logic, Pele would not be truly Brazilian since he was black, yet he had three World Cup wins, a feat none of the racist, hideously tattooed Copa America nitwits is ever going to achieve.
It is clear that Argentines would have quartered Eusebio if he had had the misfortune of claiming Argentine nationality, as they readily would Zinedine Zidane and Kylian Mbappe. Eusebio, one of the greatest footballers this planet has ever seen, donned the colours of Portugal, and would perhaps have won the 1966 World Cup for the country had officialdom and the English not played the dirty trick of shifting the match venue and wearing him and his mates out at the killer stage of the competition.
Buenos Aires being literally whitewashed is of no interest to me, and in fact, Argentina can go ahead and eliminate the remnant Afro-Argentines. It could line them up like the Ustashe did innocent Jews in Poland and many other places during Hitler’s purge, and plunge them to their deaths from mountain tops in a hail of bullets. After all, the whites are the ‘superior race’, and Argentina is the poster boy for negativity. That, though, is not going to eliminate the fact that some 57.4 percent of the country’s population are currently living in poverty.
Argentina’s founding fathers such as Mariano Moreno and Bernardino Rivadavia propagated Europeanism, and having black ancestry was frowned upon. The country of Neo-Nazi migrants is entitled to its ethnic choices, but not race-shaming. The Copa America triumphalists are just like the clowns who, per Horace Cooper, “defended slavery, started the Civil War, opposed Reconstruction, founded the Ku Klux Klan, imposed segregation, perpetuated lynchings,” and now sing that Black lives matter while encouraging the abortion of black babies. After all, Argentina is said to have the highest per capita rate of psychologists in the world. The rabid racists must console themselves.
