No fewer than six serving corps members were injured as armed robbers attacked their lodge and cart away valuables in Osun State.

Nationnewslead assembled that the incident happened on Saturday around 4am at the Nigeria Christian Corpers Fellowship (NCCF) lodge at Dada Estate in Osogbo where corps members are residing.

A source told our correspondent that the armed robbers numbering about eight forcefully entered the lodge and threatened to kill anyone who refuses to lay down his or her valuables.

Speaking with one of the victims; Ofure Ehizogie explained that, “We were attacked and those armed robbers stole all our valuables. They took laptops, phones, money and other valuables. During the attack, about six to seven of us were injured and we were taken to the hospital. The Osun State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC), Mr Adewale Adegoke visited the scene with other officials of the scheme visited us and informed security operatives.”

 

Similarly, the NYSC, Osun State coordinator, Mr Adewale Adegoke, confirmed the attack on the corps members noting that six of them were injured.

 

He said, “It happened on a Saturday and we quickly waded into the matter and informed the state government, DSS, and NSCDC about the incident and they have been helping.

“Those that were injured were taken to the hospital and some were discharged on Saturday and others left on Sunday. We have given the security operatives information that will help to apprehend the robbers. The Management of the scheme has been informed.”

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mrs Abiodun Ige said she is not aware of the attack on corps members but reiterated that the government is concerned about the lives and properties of her citizens.

The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola did not respond to calls and text messages put to her phone at the time of filing this report.
