Yet-to-be-identified suspected armed robbers have killed a 57-year-old man, Alhaji Mohammed Samaila, a resident of Gaina village in Misau LGA of Bauchi.

Reports from the area revealed that the man was killed when the armed robbers stormed their residence and robbed them of an undisclosed amount of money after shooting and killing him.

The incident was confirmed by the State Police Command late Sunday evening through the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili in a statement he issued to Journalists.

According to him, “On 14 December 2024, at about 0310 hours, the Command received an emergency call from Alhaji Samaila Gaina, a 75-year-old resident of Gaina Village, reporting an armed robbery and tragic shooting at his home.”

The PPRO added, “At around 0250 hours, four unidentified armed assailants broke into his residence, resulting in the unfortunate loss of Alhaji Mohammed Samaila, aged 57, who was fatally injured during the incident.”

Ahmed Wakili added, “The assailants fled with an undisclosed amount of money while the victim was transported to the Federal Medical Center in Misau, where he was pronounced dead.”

In response to the serious incident, the Bauchi State Police Command immediately dispatched a Team of homicide Detectives to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.

“Our dedicated investigators are focused on identifying and apprehending those responsible for this heinous act, and we are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and his family,” he assured.

Auwal Musa Muhammad, the Commissioner of Police has expressed deep condolences for the loss suffered by the family and condemned the act of violence.

He, however, reassured the public that the Command is fully interested in enhancing community safety and encourages anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.

Auwal Musa Mohammed stressed “Together, we can work towards a safer environment for all citizens. The Bauchi State Police Command is committed to maintaining the safety of our communities and is actively addressing recent criminal incidents.”
