The FCT Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 137 additional officers to strengthen the armed squad in combating the vandalization of national assets in the Federal Capital Territory.
The Commandant of the Corps in the FCT, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, speaking during the passing-out parade of the Batch B Basic Arms Training, urged officers to protect themselves, government rifles, and the lives and property of FCT residents.
He charged the newly trained 137 graduating officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and discipline in handling rifles while safeguarding the FCT.
A total of 272 officers have been retrained under the Batch A and B programmes since October 2024.
Odumosu emphasized the need to adhere to the rules of engagement in the discharge of their duties.

He further called on the personnel to remain vigilant, disciplined, and focused as they take up their roles in safeguarding lives, property, and critical national infrastructure within the FCT.
“As you are deployed today to your various places of assignment, remember to uphold your good orientation, always give your best, work smart, and think smart at all times.
“In the discharge of your legitimate duties, always remember the rules of engagement, be professional in handling your rifles, protect yourselves, protect your rifles, and protect lives and property,” he urged the officers.
The Commandant reminded the officers that their rigorous training had prepared them to face security challenges with competence and resolve.
He highlighted the significance of their role in supporting the Command’s efforts to combat vandalism, illegal mining, theft of public infrastructure, and other crimes.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” Odumosu said.
He commended the instructors for their dedication to preparing the officers for their responsibilities, noting that their expertise had been instrumental in sharpening the skills and instilling the values needed for the job.
The Commandant also acknowledged the support of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, and the Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike, whose leadership and resources have strengthened the Command’s capacity to meet security demands.
Odumosu assured the public of the Command’s continued dedication to its mandate of protecting lives and critical infrastructure, promising that the Corps would not relent in its efforts to ensure safety and security across the FCT.
“For us at the FCT, and as a Corps in general, training and retraining are continuous processes. What we are doing here today is one of the ways we are stepping up our game against criminal elements in the FCT, in line with the proactiveness and pace of the Honorable Minister of the FCT, Chief Barrister Nyesom Wike. We want to thank him for not just tasking us, but for providing the needed support and tools to perform.”
