The newly appointed Executive Chairman of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), Barr. Oladele Bankole-Balogun, on Wednesday assumed duty with the commitment to improving the revenue of the state.
Recall that that Senator Monday Okpebholo after his Inauguration as the Executive Governor of the state, dissolved the Board of the EIRS and other boards/commissions hitetho inaugurated by the immediate past administration in Edo.
Consequent upon the dissolution of the board of EIRS, Governor Okpebholo appointed Barr. Oladele Bankole-Balogun, Deacon Patrick Akhimie Idiake, Hon. Michael Ohio-Ezomo and Engr. Jackson Eribo, as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Directors of the revenue service.
Their appointments was however ratified by the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) this week, hence their resumption of duties.

Leading the Executive Directors of the EIRS on a guided office tour of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service’s Headquarters, Bankole-Balogun interfaced with the staff of the service that included the various unit heads.
He said that his on-the-spot assessment was not to witch-hunts anyone but to familiarise himself with the revenue workers.
While assuring the people that the State Government is committed to their welfare, the EIRS Executive Chairman, informed the workers that inline with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s drive to improving the well-being of the people, all hands must be on deck in order to improve the revenue base of the state.
“Owing to the mandate of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, there is need for the Revenue Service to up its game in the area of efficiency to affect revenue generation set targets in order to drive infrastructural development of the state.
“We seem to have staffs who are very knowledgeable and experienced in the business of revenue collection, assessment and management
“As we go along, more is expected of our staff in terms of performance and work related activities. I, with the Executive Directors and staff, we will achieve the objectives of His Excellency, the governor of the state, Senator Monday Okpebholo.”
Bankole-Balogun and the Directors later had an IGR strategic management meeting with top management staff of the Service.
