To enhance legislative working and understanding of the proposed Local Government Administration and Economic Planning and Development Board Bill, the Bauchi State House of Assembly has commenced a vital retreat and roundtable discussion.

The retreat is held in Kano for the entire Members of the Assembly, the Clerk, and key Directors of the 10th Assembly.

It is aimed at providing an opportunity to streamline legislative efforts towards robust local governance and sustainable economic planning.

Speaking at the retreat, a prominent resource person, Professor S.A Danwanka of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, National Assembly, Abuja, stressed the importance of empowering local government structures for efficient service delivery and grassroots development.

Represented by Dahiru Idris, he emphasized that well-coordinated local government administration, combined with strategic economic planning, will foster better infrastructural development, job creation, and improved living standards for the electorate.

The retreat, which includes expert presentations and interactive sessions, is designed to equip lawmakers with the requisite knowledge and strategies to craft effective legislation.

By refining the bill, the Assembly aims to ensure transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness in local government operations, ultimately promoting equitable resource distribution across Bauchi State.

In his opening remarks, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman enjoined the Legislators to remain committed to improvement, especially in legislative parameters.

According to him, despite their constitutional mandate to ensure implementation and practice, the bills are crucial considering the autonomous purpose they will serve in the constitutional adjustments.

She added that such engagements are critical in aligning legislative priorities with the developmental aspirations of the people of Bauchi State.

With this retreat, the Bauchi State House of Assembly reaffirms its commitment to delivering legislative frameworks that will uplift local governance and stimulate economic growth, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of the state as contained in a statement by the Assembly New Media Unit of the Information and Publication Directorates.
