In what has been viewed as a paradigm shift in the political scene of Bauchi State come 2027, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has shifted its leadership to Bauchi South Senatorial District with the election of Pharmacist Samaila Burga as the new Chairman.

The erstwhile Principal Private Secretary (PPS) to the Governor of Bauchi State was elected alongside others by a total of 2549 delegates during the State Delegates Congress held despite the heavy rainfall at the Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Square, Government House on Saturday.

The state congress, which was attended by prominent party faithful and delegates from the 20 local governments, marked the end of the tenure of the immediate past Executive Council led by Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam.

The new officials are expected to run the affairs of the Party for the next Four years and they  are Pharmacy Sama’ila Burga as Chairman, Alhaji Falalu Attah Deputy Chairman, Bakoji Aliyu Bobo Secretary, Danlami Garba Abubakar Zonal Chairman Bauchi South, Sani Muhammad Burra Zonal Chairman Bauchi Central and Mustapha Mai Kwana Zonal Chairman Bauchi North.

Others are Hafsat  Adamu, Treasurer, Garba Mundaminyo, Financial Secretary, Abdulkadir Alin Bababa, Organizing Secretary, Adamu Babayo Gabarin, Publicity Secretary, Babangida Maliya Youth Leader,  Maimuna Ahmad Women Leader among others.

Announcing the results,  the Chairman, Electoral Committee, Ambassador Umar El-Gash said that all the candidates were returned unopposed.

Ambassador Umar El-Gash described the election as orderly and called on the elected officials to uphold the sprit of transparency and accountability in line with the party’s guiding principles.

El-Gash Umar commended Governor Bala Mohammed’s leadership, which has transformed the state through infrastructure and human capital development.

He also acknowledged the presence of national and state assembly members, INEC officials, and stakeholders of the party.

El-Gash Umar emphasized the significance of the congress, stating that power belongs to God through the people.

He reminded the delegates that the PDP is the largest political party in Africa and the mother of all other parties. He urged them to elect new state executives and affirm consensus where reached.

Addressing the new officials, the State Governor, charged them to build on the achievements recorded by their predecessors to enable the PDP maintain its position as the ruling party in the state even beyond 2027.

Bala Mohammed who was represented by his Deputy, Rt Hon Auwal Jatau congratulated them for their election expressing confidence on the ability of the new leadership to deliver on their mandate.

The event which featured voting, announcing the results and administration of the oath of office and allegiance was graced by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman, Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, Senator Samaila Dahuwa, and other party stalwarts.
