Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, on Monday, swore in Six new High Court Judges and Five Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal in a move to bolstered and reinvigorate the State Judiciary.
The Governor while addressing the new appointees after the administration of oath of allegiance and office, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the judiciary operates independently and without obstacles.
Bala Mohammed also swore in Chairmen and Members of Statutory Commission as well as Board of Public Procurement Bureau emphasizing the resolve of his administration to provide the necessary support and resources for the judiciary to function effectively.
He highlighted his administration’s efforts to provide befitting vehicles and necessary requirements for the judiciary, stressing that this would enable the Courts to dispense justice promptly, fairly and objectively as the last resort of the common man saying “As justice delayed is justice denied.”
He also commended the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar for her leadership and pledged to continue supporting the judiciary.
Bala Mohammed also reiterated his commitment to non-interference in judicial affairs, emphasizing his administration’s respect for the separation of powers.
He encouraged the newly appointed Judges and Khadis to cooperate with his administration and uphold the trust reposed in them, urging them to prioritize their official responsibilities over personal interests.
The Governor further highlighted his administration’s efforts to decongest prisons through collaboration with the judiciary and other stakeholders.
He expressed his appreciation for the synergy between the executive and judiciary, which has led to various developmental innovations.
The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant milestone in Bauchi State’s history, with the largest number of Khadis ever appointed.
The Governor congratulated the appointees and wished them a successful and impactful tenure just as he also encouraged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by bringing their wealth of knowledge and experience to bear in their new roles.
With this development, Bauchi State is poised for a new era of judicial excellence, and the Governor’s commitment to the judiciary’s independence and effectiveness has set a high standard for his administration.

The Governor further charged them to assist in the actualization of his Administration’s vision and mission assuring that his Administration will continue to uphold justice and fairness in the conduct of Government policies and Programmes.
The Governor described the sworn-in appointees as, “Relevant Stakeholders in ensuring justice and fairness in the Judicial System and the public service charging them to justify the confidence repouse in them.
He then commended the Judiciary for its pivotal roles in shaping society and that his Administration will continue to uphold the tenets of rule of law and service delivery in the State.
For Chairmen and Members of the State Statutory Commissions, Governor Bala Mohammed charged them as technocrats in their respective fields to assist his Administration in repositioning the critical sectors of the economy.
While wishing them the best of luck in the discharge of their respective responses, the Governor urged them to be guided by the provisions of the law for sustainable growth and development.
The Governor also charged members of the Public Procurement Board charging them to ensure effective procurement for the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
In her remarks, the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his support to the judiciary since he came on board as the Governor in 2019.
Rabi Talatu Umar said that the swearing-in ceremony marked the climax of the process that started in 2023 pledging that the judiciary would not fail in its responsibilities.
She noted that with the addition, the number of High Court Judges and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal has risen to 15 and 16 respectively.
The Chief Judge requested the Governor to assist in providing Chief Magistrates and Magistrates in the state with official vehicles to enable them be more efficient and effective.
In a vote of thanks, Justice Aliyu Bin Idris on behalf of those sworn in Judges and Khadis promised to do their best to promote fairness and justice while Chairman, Assembly Service Commission, Haruna Bappa Disina presented goodwill message on behalf of the Chairmen and Members of the State Statutory Commissions pledging unalloyed loyalty and support.
