THE immediate past vice chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has advised the 33 pioneer students of Aletheia University, Ago- Iwoye, Ogun State, to be solution providers to Nigeria’s problems with their academic programmes.

The advice was given by Ogundipe during the maiden edition of the private institutions matriculation ceremony, held last Saturday, at the university site in Ago- Iwoye, for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Professor Ogundipe, who delivered the matriculation lecture with the topic ‘Paradigm Shift in University Education: The Aletheia University Perspective,’ identified persistence; risk taking; passion; discipline; integrity and sacrifice as factors that assist the new intakes in achieving their academic and life goals.

The guest lecturer also urged the management, lecturers and students of the university to adopt technology innovations in teaching, learning and research, so as to make the institution outstanding.

The vice chancellor of the university, Professor Amos Olusanya, also charged the new students to embrace excellence in order to be outstanding among their peers.

“Today’s event is the first stage of your intellectual journey in this university. Securing admission into Aletheia University calls for celebration. I admonished you to be focused and avoid any form of distraction,” he said.

He explained that all the programmes currently run by the institution had received the nod of the National Universities Commission (NUC), with plans underway to add more courses to the existing ones.

The VC, who stated that the students of the university will graduate with four certificates at the end of their studies in the new university namely, degree, ICT, entrepreneurial and professional, revealed that the institution had planned to increase to six colleges with 32 academic programmes in the next two years.

While Aletheia Founder, Major General Adebanjo Awosanya, admonished the new students to be wary of procrastination, he explained that the university believed in technology and critical thinking as a game changer to Nigeria’s challenges.

He promised that the institution will make the undergraduates relevant nationally and internationally by the end of their academic pursuits.
