Yesterday, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Osun State, His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, joined political associates, party candidates, and well-wishers at the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Irewole Local Government. The event, held in Ikire, signified the commencement of the APC’s chairmanship and councilorship campaign in the area.
Addressing the crowd, the APC Chairman in Irewole, Hon. Arimiyau Owoade, highlighted the party’s achievements in the region. He reminded the people of Ikire that no political party has brought more positive developments to the area than the APC. He criticized the current administration for failing to sustain the progress built by the APC despite having significant resources at its disposal.
While presenting the party’s flag to the chairmanship and councilorship candidates, His Excellency Benedict Olugboyega Alabi expressed gratitude to the people for their overwhelming turnout, which he described as a testament to the enduring popularity of the APC in Irewole Local Government.
Alabi reassured the candidates of the unwavering support of party leaders, urging Ikire residents to vote en masse for APC candidates in the forthcoming local government elections. He further emphasized the importance of unity and dedication among party members to secure a resounding victory.
Alabi, a revered figure in Osun politics, commended the APC candidates for their commitment and assured the people of the party’s readiness to fulfill its promises of development, progress, and good governance.
Elder Peter Babalola, fondly known as “The Rescuer,” also spoke at the event. He praised Benedict Alabi as a loyal and dedicated party man, recognizing his significant influence in Irewole politics. While acknowledging Alabi as his junior (“aburo”), Babalola noted that Alabi’s position as a former deputy governor makes him a respected leader in APC Irewole and a prominent stakeholder in APC Osun.
Babalola encouraged residents to support APC candidates, emphasizing their capability to deliver transformative leadership and grassroots development. He expressed confidence in the APC’s ability to align with the aspirations of the people and bring lasting progress.
