The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Benue has elected new state working committee with the former member of House of Representative, Ezekiel Adaji emerges chairman.
Chairman of the electoral committee, Alhaji Shaba Ibrahim, said Ezekiel Adaji scored 2482 votes and was declared winner.
With his emergence, he now heads the new 27-member State Executive Committee of the party elected with him.
The leader of Benue State PDP Congress Electoral Committee led by Alh. Ibrahim Shaba announced the elected officials.
Other officials elected at the state congress alongside with the chairman includes ; State Secretary Comrade Dan Nyikwagh, State Public Secretary, Hon Tim Nyor, Youth Leader, Ibya Terkimbi and Women leader, Mrs Alice Albert amongst others.
They were immediately sworn in by the Caretaker committee Legal officer ,Barr Friday Ejembi.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the newly inaugurated State Working Committee ,SWC, Adaji said he was overwhelmed by the massive show of support given to them by members of the party.
“Our state is in need of leadership and my state EXCO will not disappoint the party to ensure it bounced back to power.
“We are going to hit the ground running and we shall reconcile all aggrieved members of the party as we intend to set up a reconciliation committee immediately,” he said.
Alh .Shaba said they had a total delegates list of 2,910 and 2,900 were accredited for the state congress election.
Meanwhile, the newly state working committee were stranded on Friday when they went to the party secretariat to take over from the outgone Caretaker State Working Committee but found the secretariat under lock.
The new party leadership arrived the old party secretariat on Friday to receive handover notes from the caretaker committee it was discovered that the secretariat was under lock and key.
All efforts by the newly elected state Chairman, Ezekiel Adaji to know reason the secretariat was locked were not successful.
Adaji who later got the caretaker committee secretary on the phone was told that the committee also got the information that the secretariat was under lock and key
Speaking to journalists, Adaji said he would consult with relevant stakeholders on the next line of action.
