The Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has extended its Enrollment Drive Campaign to Benue Zone A in a bid to boost enrollment rates and sensitize key education stakeholders on the government’s commitment to ensuring access to quality education for all school-age children.

The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Dr. Grace Adagba, in a welcome address during the campaign launch held at Vandeikya LGA over the weekend, commended Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia for prioritizing education in his administration.

Represented by the Board Secretary, Dr. Joseph Jande, Dr. Adagba praised the governor’s dedication to improving educational infrastructure, curriculum development, teacher welfare, and recruitment to enhance basic education in the state. She emphasized the importance of a collective effort to ensure that every child in Benue State has access to quality basic education, including through Early Childhood Care Development Education (ECCDE) Centres, Public Primary, and Junior Secondary Schools.

“The future of our children lies in education. We urge parents, guardians, and community leaders to collaborate with the government to ensure every child receives basic education,” Dr. Adagba stated.

Declaring the event open, the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan, called on all stakeholders to support the government in ensuring that every child in Benue State not only attends school but also receives an education that prepares them for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century.

The UBEC State Coordinator, Mr. Idzi Baba Emmanuel, urged parents and stakeholders to embrace public education, assuring that UBEC is committed to providing quality education in public schools. He highlighted education as both a necessity and a right, encouraging everyone to support the Enrollment Drive Campaign Programme.

In their goodwill messages, Mue-Ter Kyan Chief Augustine Akaahan Aule and CAN Coordinator Ushongo, Rev. Barr. Mlanga, urged community and religious stakeholders to enroll their children in public schools, emphasizing the importance of education in building a brighter future for both their children and their communities.

They encouraged parents to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the current administration to provide their children with a quality education.

At the event, notable speakers, including Dr. Jackson O. Ode, Dr. Peter Akpen, Dr. Nasela Pila, and Ruth Kwaghkaha, presented insightful papers that highlighted opportunities for access to quality education in public schools.

The Enrollment Drive Campaign and Sensitization Programme is one of many initiatives by SUBEB aimed at addressing the challenge of out-of-school children in Benue State. The event was well-attended by stakeholders, including parents, community leaders, religious organizations, NGOs, and the private sector, all united in their quest for a better-educated Benue State.
