An Air Peace flight en route to Abuja from Asaba, Delta State, was affected by a bird strike during landing on Saturday.
The incident, which occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, was confirmed by the airline’s management.
According to reports, the aircraft, with registration number ES-SAZ, landed safely, and passengers disembarked normally.
Air Peace assured customers that another aircraft was arranged to operate on the rotation, and the company empathized with passengers whose flights were disrupted.
“This is to inform the flying public and our esteemed customers that our Asaba-Abuja flight- P47866- had a bird strike upon landing in Abuja on Saturday, April 8, 2023,” the airline’s statement read.
“While we deeply empathize with passengers whose flights have been consequently affected by this unforeseen development, the arrangement was made for another aircraft to operate Abuja-Asaba, Asaba-Lagos, and other flights on that rotation.
Be assured of our strict compliance with established safety standards.”
Efforts to reach the General Manager of Public Affairs, Nigerian Safety and Investigation Bureau, Tunji Oketunbi, proved abortive at the time of filling this report.
