The family of renowned megachurch leader, Bishop T.D. Jakes, has provided an update on his health condition following a health emergency that occurred while delivering a sermon on Sunday.
Tribune Online reports that the health scare unfolded while Jakes was delivering an hour-long message at The Potter’s House in Dallas.
In an update on the development, his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband, Toure Roberts, revealed that the pastor is doing well and is now in a better condition.
In an Instagram video shared by Toure Roberts, the family offered an encouraging update, expressing gratitude for the prayers and support flooding in from the global faith community.
He said, “Obviously today could have been a tragic day but it wasn’t; by the mercy of God, by the grace of God, Bishop is doing well he’s recovering well, he’s under medical care, he’s strong.
“We’re trying to get him to sit down. He’s the strong Bishop that we know, but we really can’t thank you enough for your prayers.”
Also speaking on his health, Sarah Jakes Roberts said, “I’m so grateful that he’s already beginning to improve. It’s a reminder that even going into this holiday season, we need to love on the people who you hold near and dear and just take the time to be grateful for all the people God’s given you.”
Founded in 1996, The Potter’s House is one of the largest multicultural megachurches in the United States, boasting over 30,000 members.
The church, which is well known for its global influence, has consistently been ranked among the most impactful religious institutions in the country.
