Following the court’s decision to sentence crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, to six months in prison without the option of a fine, Nigerians have flooded the social media platform, X, with their reactions.
Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos delivered the judgment after Bobrisky pleaded guilty to Naira Abuse charges, despite the dismissal of money laundering accusations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The ruling has sparked debate, with some viewing it as unjust while others question which prison section Bobrisky will be housed in due to gender controversy.

@brodamike07 wrote, “If this is true, the judgment is harsh and should be condemned by all.”
@_Asiwajerry wrote, “This Bobrisky sentence is a matter of the more you look the less you see. There are people who have committed far more heinous crimes than what he did and they got bail options.
He’s being scapegoated and everyone is laughing cos it’s someone the general public doesn’t like.”
@Grachidex wrote, “So is it gonna be the male or female prison?”
@mrnoga23 wrote, “I hate this country so much. Homophobic lots. Let me hear any “Pray for Nigeria” again, ogun go punish you.”
@iamkelechiO wrote, “I honestly don’t feel sorry for him. He’s a bad influence in the society.
“Good riddance to bad rubbish.”
@_konfam wrote, “This is not right at all, they’re sentencing him over what everyone is guilty of?”
@IamKonrade wrote, “I hope this sets precedence and that anyone who violates the naira, politicians inclusive, is sentenced.”
@Oladapomikky1 wrote, “This Bobrisky arrest is just to distract people from the main g@y petition written against him with evidence. 6 months is way better than 14 years, though.”
@JoyMart14 wrote, “May we not offend people wey no deh accept apology 😎”
@Iamlexprince wrote, “Ok, now this is pure wickedness and jealousy. Bobrisky is the least of our problem in this country. If they channel that same energy to the right people, we for no dey complain for this country.”
@divfee wrote, “This country funny, is she the first to spray money like this in naija???”
