A review of Joshua Omeke’s The Middle Belt Enlightenment: An Inspiration for Growth.
JOSHUA Omeke’s book, The Middle Belt Enlightenment: An Inspiration for Growth, focuses on using the spiritual to drive the physical. Omeke, in the book, urges the reader to embrace his/her inner being “because the outside is a representation of your inside.”
The 12-chapter book starts with “Process of Reproduction.” The author describes reproduction as one of the blessings of being a living thing.”
He says apart from the physical birth of a baby, every other part of the body reproduces. “It is also amazing that even our minds, like our bodies, can reproduce lofty ideas and thoughts.”
In fact, the author states that what is conceived inside one’s mind is greater than the person because such ideas know no boundary.
He further highlights that while to humans, reproduction may simply mean sexual intercourse, to God, it is beyond that mating, as “it is the planting of a seed which germinates and causes birth.
“This seed receives a spiritual ordination from the Highest. This seed then grows up to decide what it wants to be and what path it would tread, be it the path of God or recreating a path of its own that it shall follow.”
The second chapter of the book, “The Development of Seed,” simply highlights the process through which the human is formed in the embryo and passes to the period of birth.
Omeke states that “Every seed goes through developmental process.” right from the foetus stage.
The third chapter, “Birth of the Grown Seed,” focuses on the birth of a child. Once the birthing process has taken place, then there is a purpose for that birth.
However, he states that, “The birth of a child is beyond coming to life. There’s a purpose, everything is attached to a purpose.“
He believes one also needs to make some preparations or organise oneself when a ‘seed’ is coming to one’s family.
The fourth chapter, “Upbringing of the Seed,” delves into steps/strategies to take when raising a child. The author states that to have a productive seed, “it is advisable to guide them on values and personality.”
The fifth chapter, “The Purpose of the Seed,” explains the need for one to allow one’s seed to define its purpose. However, in this, it is also important to guide the seed in the way of the Lord.
One can then assist them to achieve their goals by guiding them.
“The sixth chapter, “Freedom or Restriction of the Seed,” explains how children want to be ‘free,’ but it is the responsibility of the parents to monitor them.
The author uses his own growing up and how some of his colleagues ‘step’ out of their boundaries once they are away from home to do all sorts of immoral things.
Chapter seven, “Exposure to the Outside World,” chapter eight, “Communication with the Seed, chapter nine, Gradual Achievement of the Seed,” chapter 10, “Indecision is a Decision,” chapter 11, “The Seed Realisation of other Seeds,” and the final chapter, “The Re-effect of the Seed,” all explain the process of parenting which one can take to guide the child in the right direction in life.
The author, Joshua Omeke, has put out a book on parenting, which is a must-have for every parent and future parents.
He has used personal and close experiences, particularly those he garnered while growing up in Nigeria, to drive home his point on the steps to guide a ‘seed’ in order to achieve his goal in life.
Through the book, the reader will gain invaluable ideas on how easy parenting can be after all.
