A non-profit, Amina Dikwa Foundation (ADF), has launched a multifaceted recovery initiative to address the needs of victims of the devastating floods that wreaked havoc across households in Borno State recently.

Speaking on the backdrop of the floods, which resulted in significant loss of lives and properties, ADF’s founder/CEO Amina Dikwa said its initiatives bordered on measures spread across the short-term, medium to long-term.

“We have achieved significant progress through our immediate response, providing emergency relief such as clean drinking water, blankets, long-lasting insecticidal mosquito nets, clothing materials, and sanitary kits to women, girls, and children in IDP camps,” Amina Dikwa explained.

She said as part of its commitment, the foundation supported affected communities through medical care delivered through collaborations with other NGOs while establishing communication with relevant authorities and stakeholders. “We also provided essential services, including sanitation kits and equipment, medical care, psychosocial support, educational support through school renovations and learning materials, and cash assistance to women for livelihood recovery,” Amina stated.

For long-term resilience, ADF focused on infrastructure rehabilitation, provision of motorized solar boreholes and sanitary equipment, supporting entrepreneurship and job creation, and enhancing disaster preparedness and risk reduction measures through advocacy.

ADF’s comprehensive approach has significantly impacted flood-affected communities in Borno State. As the foundation continues its efforts, it remains dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable populations and fostering long-term resilience.
