The Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) has restated its commitment to delivering on its mandate and pledged to uphold its core values of integrity, transparency, professionalism, accountability, and result-orientated teamwork (I-PART)), which align with the goals of SERVICOM.
The Bureau noted that for the nation to meet and exceed expectations and fully align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, achievements must indeed go above and beyond the common level of service.
Director-General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Mr. Ayodeji A. Gbeleyi stated this on Tuesday in his opening remarks at the Bureau’s SERVICOM day symposium with the theme, “Impact of Attitudinal and Behavioural Ethics in the Workplace,” held in Abuja.
Mr. Gbeleyi said, “If we are to meet and exceed expectations and fully align with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda. our achievements must indeed go “Above and Beyond the common level of service.” The Bureau is committed to delivering on its mandate, and we pledge to uphold our core values (Integrity-Transparency. Professionalism, Accountability. Result- Orientation and Teamwork (I-PART)), which are aligned with the goals of SERVICOM”.
He noted that the theme highlights the importance of frontline service providers, emphasizes team spirit within the workforce, and underscores its positive impact on the Bureau; more importantly, raised awareness of the value of excellent customer service in the operations of workers.
He reiterated that “As we gather today, we will reflect on the various ways to foster and navigate the right ethics that can reshape our work culture, ensuring we derive value from our efforts and expertise”.
The BPE boss recalled that on 24th March 2004, SERVICOM, which stands for Service Compact with All Nigerians, was formally instituted and served as a key instrument to ensure effective and efficient public service delivery across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAS) of the Government.
He stressed that further to this, and in line with the Government’s directives, the BPE SERVICOM Unit was established on 13th May 2008 to address genuine concerns regarding service delivery and to significantly improve the level of service provided within the Bureau.
Mr. Gbeleyi pointed out that the prominence of the SERVICOM Unit in driving the Bureau’s service delivery initiatives cannot be over-emphasised, as reflected in its various activities, including: “Periodic use of surveys to assess customer satisfaction with services rendered by the Bureau; Regular scrutiny and review of our internal processes to identify areas for improvement; Consistent implementation of our service charter”, among others.
As the Director-General of the BPE, he committed to upholding the mandate of SERVICOM, ensuring continuous delivery of quality service to both internal and external customers of the Bureau for better results and greater impact.
The National Coordinator/Chief Executive Officer of SERVICOM, Nnenna Akajemeli, said a positive attitude among employees fosters collaboration, enhances communication, and promotes a culture of respect and support for staff.
According to her, “A professional disposition builds trust and credibility among colleagues and clients, enhancing collaboration and teamwork. It also establishes clear expectations and boundaries, reducing misunderstandings and conflicts”.
As the service delivery expectation of Nigerians continues to rise, She noted that going above and beyond should be the watchword of all government employees.
Mrs. Akajemeli stated that service is not just about meeting basic needs; it is about creating memorable experiences for stakeholders that foster Loyalty and trust.
