Nationnewslead report that APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru has criticized ex-governor Rauf Aregbesola for forming a new faction within the All Progressives Congress in Osun.
Basiru expressed his disapproval during a visit by members of the Osun Restoration group from Ijesa land in Abuja, where they congratulated him on his appointment.
The group’s chairman, Hon. Abubakar Lukman, praised Senator Basiru for his commitment to the party. He explained that the new group was created to mend divisions and prepare the party for future elections. Hon. Akinloye Johnson called on Senator Basiru to use his position to garner support for the party in the state.
Senator Basiru thanked party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande, and encouraged the group to work diligently at the grassroots level.
He also criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke’s style of governance and accused Aregbesola and his new political group Omoluabi Progressives of working against the party’s interests in recent elections.
He warned the Omoluabi Progressives not to overestimate their influence, stating that the party under Sooko Tajudeen Lawal’s chairmanship is strong and aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s developmental agenda.
