The Police in Osun State have apprehended Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo, the suspended Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, as reported by Nationnewslead.
Dr. Odetayo was detained at the premises of the Federal High Court in Osogbo by officers from Zone 11 on Wednesday. Although he was subsequently released on bail, he has been instructed to report back today, Friday.
As of the time of compiling this report, Dr. Odetayo remains in police custody, according to sources close to the situation. While the exact reasons for his arrest have not been confirmed, sources suggest it may be related to certain properties of the polytechnic allegedly under his control.
Dr. Odetayo’s suspension stems from actions taken by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, outlined in a letter dated July 1 and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, M. K. Jimoh. He was appointed as the substantive Rector of the Polytechnic on March 14, 2023, by Governor Adeleke, only to face suspension four months later over allegations of abuse of office and misappropriation of funds.
Despite refuting all allegations leveled against him, Dr. Odetayo pursued legal recourse to challenge his suspension through the court system.
