In a shift reaction, the Kano state chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Hashimu Dunguruwa has described the suspension of the presidential candidate of the party as fake news.
Speaking with NIGERIAN TRIBUNE on phone from Abuja, Dungurwa said he is at a party executive meeting saying no such move was made.
“I am presently in Abuja where the party executive is holding a meeting, there was nothing like that.”
The NNPP chairman added, “We were at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, we just passed a vote of confidence on Dr Kwankwaso.”
He also disclosed that the NEC equally extended the tenure of caretaker chairman and the secretary of the party.
He added that the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, Senators, members elect of House of Representative and House of assembly endorsed the NEC meeting as well passed a vote of confidence on Dr Kwankwaso.
Agency report, earlier on Tuesday, said the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the NNPP suspended its candidate in the Feb. 25 presidential election, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for alleged anti-party activities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the suspension is for six months.
NAN reports that the suspensions were put to a voice vote by members of the party at its special general assembly, held at the Rockview Hotels in Apapa.
