The 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has sadly passed away, joining his ancestors.
Reports indicate that the revered monarch breathed his last at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state.
Balogun hailed from the Ali-Iwo compound in the present Ibadan North East local government area.
He peacefully departed shortly after being admitted to the health facility.
Before his reign, Balogun distinguished himself as both an academic and a politician. He served as a lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria and later represented the Oyo Central Senatorial District from 1999 to 2003.
Having earned a Doctor of Philosophy, he ascended to the throne of Olubadan on March 11, 2022, succeeding Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, who passed away on January 2, 2022.
