Popular Nigerian Entertainer, Broda Shaggi, is making a return to the stage at the Lagos International Theatre Festival (LITF) with ‘Shaggi On Stage’, which is a live performance of some of viral skits.
Known for his comedic flair and unique take on Lagos life, Broda Shaggi is back with a fresh production that combines comedy, music, and dance. This time, he’s not just performing but also directing a show that promises to deliver high-energy entertainment.
‘Shaggi On Stage’ marks a new chapter in his journey, blending his humor with the storytelling depth that theater allows. “It’s more than just laughs,” Broda Shaggi says. “This show is about bringing people together to feel the power of our music, our dance, and our stories.” Every beat and every punchline is carefully crafted to connect with audiences, reflecting the joy and resilience of Lagos.
Speaking about the production, Executive Producer of the show, Olufemi Oguntamu, said, “This project is more than just a performance for us—it’s about capturing the essence of Lagos and bringing it to life on stage. Broda Shaggi’s creativity and dedication have been inspiring to witness, and I’m proud to be part of a team that’s bringing something so meaningful to the festival.”
While ‘Shaggi On Stage’ is expected to be a highlight, the Lagos International Theatre Festival as a whole celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of Nigerian and African creativity across multiple art forms. Running from November 14 to 17, LITF 2024 will feature 25 performances showcasing theater, music, dance, and multidisciplinary art that reflect the energy and creativity of Lagos. Each performance contributes to the festival’s mission of celebrating Nigeria’s artistic talents on an international stage.
At the recent press conference, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of LITF to the state’s cultural and economic landscape. “Entertainment, tourism, and the creative arts are cardinal economic objectives of Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Events like the Lagos International Theatre Festival allow us to present Nigeria’s best to the world, to tell our stories, and showcase the resilience and innovation that define our people.”
Bolanle Austen-Peters, Founder Terra Kulture and lead for the festival, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s lineup, saying, “The world is going to see the beauty of Nigerian performances on stage, and we’re thrilled to present such an array of talent to a global audience.”
Beyond stage productions, LITF 2024 will also include panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions designed to build collaboration and strengthen the Nigerian theatre community. This festival is more than a series of shows; it’s a cultural bridge where Nigeria’s stories, humor, and creativity reach a worldwide audience.
