A tragic incident occurred on Ojo-Igbede Road in the Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, where a yet-to-be-identified male adult lost his life after being struck by a falling electric cable drum.
Confirming the incident, Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police, stated that the victim’s body has been transferred to the mortuary while investigations into the matter are underway.
Hundeyin said: “The corpse has been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy and preservation. An investigation is ongoing.”
The incident reportedly happened on Thursday while a forklift was lifting armoured cable drums.
“Incidentally, one of the cable drums disconnected and fell on a passerby, who was said to be pressing his phone while walking, and he gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
The scene was visited by detectives of the Ilemba-Hausa division, and inquiries were made,” a police source disclosed.
Meanwhile, the company’s owner has been taken into custody for questioning.
