Granddaughter of African music legend, Chief Dr. Mrs Christy Essien Igbokwe, 11-year-old songstress Christiana Igbokwe has dedicated her new single, ‘Kindness’, a reimagined version of her grandmother’s hit song, ‘Show a little bit of kindness’ to her memory.

According to the young songstress, ‘Kindness’ is dedicated to children all over the world and to kind people who, like her grandmother, believed that just one random act of kindness can turn lives around.

Young Christiana, who released the song for her anti-bullying campaign on children’s day had this message for parents.

“Parents should instill empathy and kindness in us from a young age. Don’t raise bullies”, she said.

Recall that Christiana had asserted herself as a music activist by the release of her EP, ‘Motherland’ with songs bordering on societal issues.

11-year-old Christiana Igbokwe, who is the youngest Diana Award recipient from Nigeria for her music activism and humanitarian works believes that from the stories she had heard about her grandmother, she was indeed the greatest of all time.

“June 30, 2011, exactly 13 years ago, just a year before I was born, we lost the African music legend, Chief Dr Mrs. Christy Essien Igbokwe MFR. Today, we fondly remember her contributions towards the growth of the African music industry and national development.

“My grandmother, Chief Dr Mrs. Christiana Essien Igbokwe paved the way for what the Nigerian music industry is enjoying today says Christiana. In her 50 years on earth, she found her purpose in life by creating positive impact in the world around her.

“Whether through her acts of kindness, her music, creativity, innovation, or service to others, she contributed to the greater good of humanity, the growth of the African entertainment industry, nation building and provided a sense of purpose and fulfilment.

‘She should be immortalised by the Nigerian government”, Christiana stressed.  To mark her 13th memorial, Christiana has not only dedicated her new single to evergreen memory but the young music activist has also launched her new website where fans of the late singer can buy her merchandise to keep her legacy alive.

She is also set to launch her debut albums this November. The albums are ‘Happy Days’ for children and ‘Rebirth’, in memory of her grandmother.
