Church members, particularly Baptist members, have been advised to take things easy in the face of the current economic situation in the country.
The call was made by the Interim Moderator of Yandoka Baptist Association, Bauchi, Rev. Raphael Adetunmibi, during his speech at the first and historic meeting of the Association, which was held on Saturday at GoodNews Baptist Church, Wuntin Dada, Jos Road, Bauchi.
He stated that in order to navigate through this period, there is no need to pretend to be someone you are not. Rather, individuals should do everything possible to act within the realm of what is possible and realistic.
The clergyman emphasized that Nigeria’s economic situation is dire and is affecting every Nigerian, regardless of social status or position, especially considering that the market is a common space for all.
According to him: “As we all know, the economic situation of our nation is currently unfavorable. Things are very difficult and are becoming increasingly out of reach for the common man.”

Rev. Adetunmibi continued, “I want to urge our church members to take things easy. Try to make adjustments to your finances, trust God for the sustainability of your family, pray for wisdom in living, and never try to be someone else. Be yourself.”
He prayed, “May God see us through as we endure this challenging period, in Jesus’ name.”
He added, “All praise and adoration are ascribed to our great God, the King of Glory, and our everlasting Father. We thank God for the grace and opportunity we have received as individuals and as a group to be among the soldiers of Christ.”
Rev. Adetunmibi also expressed his gratitude, saying, “Our sincere appreciation goes to God, who counted us worthy to be among the living and those who will glorify His name. We also want to appreciate our pastors, deaconate, and the entire members of Yandoka Baptist Association for your prayers, contributions, and the opportunity you have given us to serve you. May the Lord reward you greatly, in Jesus’ name.”
The clergyman urged church members not to let the current situation limit their service to God and humanity, stressing that, in times like this, people must learn to be each other’s keeper through support and sharing.
He expressed optimism that the situation will not last forever and, through faith and belief, things will improve in the country in the near future.
Rev. Adetunmibi also called on the government to rise to the occasion and implement measures that will address the economic challenges faced by the people.
