As Nigeria remembers its fallen heroes in the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Armed Forces personnel have been encouraged to live within their available means.
They were therefore urged to always make their budgets within the limit of their resources (salaries/wages) in order to aviod creating artificial problems for their families as well as prevent them from engaging in extortion of people to accommodate illegal wealth.
The charge was made by Captain Rev. Emmanuel Maidawa on Sunday during an Interdinomination Church service sermon to commemorate the 2024 Armed Forces Rememberance Day held at St. John’s Military Church (Protestant), 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks in Bauchi.
He further changed the officers and Men of Nigeria Armed Forces to imbibe the spirits of contentment in their day to day activities while in service in order to appreciate God, Almighty.
According to the Clergyman, “Jesus Christ told his companions to be contented on what God has done for them, being contented is being successful and accomplished in your life”,.
Emmanuel Maidawa also called on couples to alway encourage each other and depend on their salaries in order to live a simple rather than high life to aviod being accused after retirement, urging them to always look behind and appreciate God’s blessings.
The Clergyman equally used the occasion to pray for eternal rest for all fallen heroes and sought God to provide for their families needs and for protection for the serving Personnel against all forms of enemies attack in the discharge of their responsibilities.
While praying for the country’s leaders, fallen heroes and their families, he appreciated on the support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Commandant, Nigerian Army Armour School, Bauchi, Major General A. A Adekeye and Air Officer Commanding, Special Operation Command of the Nigerian Air Force Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal EE Effiom called on Officers to show love and affection to the families of their late colleagues by paying visit to them at their respective houses.
They vowed to redouble their efforts in fighting against crime and criminalites across the country.
In his speech, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir reiterated the commitment of his administration to the the welfare of personnel of Nigeria Armed Forces and other security agencies operating in the state.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Civil Service Matters, Abdon Dalla and Special Assistant on Christian Affairs, Pastor Zakka Magaji, the Governor commended the Nigeria Armed Forces for their efforts in keeping the state free of any form of insurgency.
The interdemomination Church service witnessed series of songs from Women Fellowship, Sabon Rai among others with a theme: “Pressing on towards the Mark of Godlines”.
