One Balikis Balogun of Checking Point Area, Ilorin, Kwara State, has applied for child custody, feeding and maintenance fee of N50,000 monthly at an Area Court sitting at Centre-Igboro, Ilorin.
Balikis prayed that the court impose a monthly allowance on the father of the child and respondent, Ahmed Mabayoje, as upkeep for their child.
The respondent, who insisted on speaking only through his lawyer, told the court that he was the biological father of the child and with the consent of his father, named the child, Abdul Kareem.
The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumonbi said that in the interest of justice and fair hearing, the case would be adjourned for the respondent’s reaction to the plaintiff.
Ajumonbi said that in the interim, subject to the provision of section 61 of Area Court Law, the respondent had earlier informed the court that he and his father named the child.
He also told the court that he was responsible for the upkeep of both mother and child before she packed out of his house on October 5.
The judge, thereby, ordered that the respondent should be paying the sum of N7,000 weekly for the feeding and upkeep of the only child, who was a proceed of their cohabitation.
