A 20-year-old man, Auwalu Lado, has been remanded at a Katsina Correctional Centre over the alleged rape and escape from police custody.
Lado would be at the Correctional Centre until July 28, 2022, when his case comes up for mention before Senior Magistrate Fadile Dikko, who ordered his remand.
According to the police, trouble started for Lado on May 25, 2022, when he was arrested for alleged rape.

The police have consequently slammed two charges against Lado.
The police prosecutor revealed that the two charges were rape, which he said, was “contrary to section 254, Katsina State penal code law, 2021; and escape from lawful custody contrary to section 46, Katsina State penal code law, 2021.”
The police prosecutor told the court that investigation was still in progress on the two charges, the development which he said, made him request a new date when Lado’s case could come up for mention before the magistrate.
The Presiding Magistrate granted the request and adjourned the case till July 28, 2022, for mention.
