The Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital has remanded in prison custody one of the suspected killers of two traditional rulers in the state.
The defendant, identified as Babuga Lede, was arraigned in court on Monday by the state police command following his arrest.
Nigerian Tribune had reported on January 29, the gruesome murder of the two traditional rulers by armed men along Oke Ako-Irele road.
During the attack, the two royal fathers, the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin and the Olumojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olatunde Olusola, were brutally murdered by the marauders; while the Alara of Ara (Ikole),Oba Sunday Adebayo Fatoba, escaped the murderous attack narrowly.
Subsequently the police arrested Lede in a nearby forest in the axis , where he confessed to be part of the gang that attacked the traditional rulers.

The Police Prosecutor, Yomi Osuolale informed the court that the defendant, “is reasonably suspected to have committed an offence of conspiracy to kidnap, attempt to murder and murder of Oba David Babatunde Ogunsakin and Oba Samuel Olatunde Ishola.”
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant attempted to kidnap Oba Fatoba and his driver.
He said the offence is punishable under Section 280, 241 and 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State 2021, within Ekiti Magisterial District on 29th day of January, 2024.
He added that the duplicate case file has been forwarded to the Ekiti State Department of Public Prosecution(DPP) for legal advice.
The Magistrate, Olubunmi Bamidele, ordered the remand of the defendant at the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Custody for pending legal advice from the DPP and adjourned the case till April 24,2024 for hearing.
