Participants, made up of students from various institutions across Lagos State, arrived in Iloko-Ijesa to explore the town’s rich cultural heritage, history, and sources of livelihood. Their visit began with a warm reception at the palace of the Owaloko.

Prominent community leaders, including Chief (Mrs.) Wuraola Abose Ogungbangbe (Yeyero of Iloko-Ijesa), Chief (Mrs.) Christianah Morolayo Oni (Yeye Dofin), High Chief Akin Satiregun (Baba Àro), High Chief Johnson Olatunji (Baba Odofin), Chief Eyebiokin Elufadeju (Baba Sawe), and Dr. Lawrence Ige Fagbohun, were present to engage the young visitors and share insights on the town’s history and cultural values.

The monarch shared key historical accounts with the visitors, including the story of Obalogun, a revered warrior who migrated from Ilesa to Iloko-Ijesa. According to the king, Obalogun’s tale remains a powerful legend in the community, especially because of the mysterious nature of his transition.

On the subject of education, the king praised the contributions of the late Oba Oladele Olashore, the founder of Olashore International School. He noted that the school is one of Nigeria’s leading institutions, recognized for its academic excellence and global reputation.

The monarch also highlighted the establishment of Iloko Model College (IMC) in 2001, a community-driven initiative that reflects the unity and shared commitment of the people toward education. He also mentioned other schools such as Osowusi Muslim Commercial High School and L.A. Primary School, which continue to thrive with local support.

In a lively question-and-answer session, the students asked if Iloko-Ijesa had ever been defeated in war. The monarch replied that the community has never been involved in any hostile conflicts, emphasizing that the town stands for peace, love, and harmonious coexistence with neighboring communities.
