Former President Donald Trump denied any connection to Project 2025, the handbook for a new conservative government written by the Heritage Foundation and several right-wing think tanks, in his Sept. 10 debate with Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump stated, “I have nothing to do with Project 2025. I haven’t read it, and I don’t intend to read it.”

Notably, several key contributors to the project previously served in Trump’s administration.

Despite this, Trump distanced himself from the document. Democrats have sought to link Trump directly to the policy blueprint in their 2024 campaign messaging.

“This was a group of people that got together, they came up with some ideas, I guess some good, some bad, but it makes no difference. I have nothing to do [with it],” he said on the debate stage.

According to the latest PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, more than two-thirds of Americans say they will watch all or most of the debate. While many voters have already made up their minds, 14 percent of Americans say the debate will have a great impact on which candidate they choose.
