Delta State Police Command has confirmed the brutal killing of a prominent community leader and businessman in Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The elderly man, Sir Paul Offor, a Knight of the Catholic Church, was reportedly murdered on Tuesday night in his office located at the busy community gate within the Delta State Capital Territory on the Benin-Asaba expressway.
According to the state police public relations officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Thursday, the command is leaving no stone unturned in the effort to apprehend the killers.
Tribune Online reports that the man was apparently stabbed to death, and his office door was shut against him without any rescue coming to him. This may have been because neighbours in the business premises generally believed that he had closed for the day and gone home, as he often worked alone.
The office served as his agency office for a commercial bank, POS, and real estate services.
The heinous act was discovered on Wednesday morning when his relatives, who also operated POS services, came inquiring from neighbours within the popular Dema Kitchen business premises about the elderly man, as he was reportedly not seen at his residence in town.
Pandemonium ensued immediately as many people from the town joined the crowd that had gathered in front of the office at Dema Kitchen to catch a glimpse of the horrible sight of the slain elder.
Meanwhile, his remains have been evacuated by the police to the mortuary.
