Donald Trump, the newly elected President of the U.S., has said he will deport undocumented migrants, alongside six other promises.

Trump made this known in his victory speech, assuring his supporters that “I will govern by a simple motto: Promises made, promises kept. We’re going to keep our promises.”

When questioned by Fox News in 2023 about potential abuse of power, Trump replied, “No, no, no, other than day one. We’re closing the border, and we’re drilling, drilling, drilling. After that, I’m not a dictator.”

Here are Trump’s seven to-do list when in power;

1. Mass Deportation of Undocumented Migrants

Aiming to make good on his immigration promises, Trump has committed to implementing the largest deportation campaign in U.S. history.

He also pledged to complete the construction of a wall at the border with Mexico, which was started during his first presidency.

The number of crossings at the US southern border hit record levels at the end of last year during the Biden-Harris administration, before falling in 2024.

2. Economic Reforms

Trump has vowed to “end inflation,” which reached historic peaks under President Biden before subsiding in recent months.
Trump aims to implement sweeping tax cuts, including abolishing taxes on tipped income and Social Security payments.

He has also proposed new tariffs, suggesting a 10% rate on most imports and as high as 60% on goods from China. Some economists caution that these tariffs could lead to higher prices for American consumers.

3. Climate Deregulation and Energy Expansion

Trump has signaled a return to a deregulatory approach, particularly in the energy sector, to boost American industry. He has repeatedly criticized electric vehicle mandates and pledged to overturn them, asserting that his policy will “drill, drill, drill” to promote fossil fuels.

He also plans to open ecologically sensitive areas, including parts of the Arctic, for oil exploration. Analysts remain skeptical, however, about the impact these policies would have on reducing energy costs.

4. Ending the Ukraine Conflict

Trump has sharply criticized the Biden administration’s funding for Ukraine’s defense against Russia and pledged to “end the conflict within 24 hours” through a negotiated settlement.

Democrats argue that Trump’s approach could embolden Russia’s Vladimir Putin. Trump’s stance reflects a broader skepticism of U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, including a recent call for Israel to end its military operation in Gaza.

5. No Federal Abortion Ban

Trump has stated he will not seek a national abortion ban, a major issue since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. “States should be free to decide their own laws on abortion,” Trump remarked, though he has struggled to articulate a consistent position on the topic.

6. Pardoning January 6 Defendants

Trump has pledged to “free” some of those convicted for their roles in the January 6 Capitol riot, which led to several fatalities. He has called the rioters “political prisoners,” yet acknowledged, “a couple of them, probably they got out of control.”

7. Dismissal of Special Counsel Jack Smith

Trump’s agenda also includes the immediate dismissal of Special Counsel Jack Smith, who has pursued criminal investigations against him related to alleged election interference and mishandling of classified documents. Trump, the first U.S. president with a criminal conviction, has dismissed the cases as a “political witch hunt.”

Recall Tribune Online reported that Donald Trump has won the U.S. presidential election, securing his place as the 47th president and marking his return to the White House.

The Associated Press announced Trump’s victory early Wednesday, as the Republican candidate outperformed Vice President Kamala Harris. The race, anticipated to be closely contested, ended with Trump holding 277 Electoral College votes over Harris’s 224, defying predictions of a much tighter outcome.
