The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Zamfara State, Alhaji Muktar Muhammed Lugga, has called on party supporters to remain focused on the forthcoming rerun elections in the state and to disregard any form of distraction that may arise.

Speaking at the PDP secretariat in Gusau, Lugga expressed his dissatisfaction with the Inspector General of Police’s invitation of some PDP members to Abuja, describing it as untimely.

“We called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to transfer the petition before him against some party chieftains to Zamfara Command, considering the current security situation on the road, especially in Zamfara, which is not favourable for travelling outside the state,” he said.

Lugga emphasized that the allegations levelled against the PDP members occurred in Zamfara State and therefore, should be better handled at the state police command in the state, rather than at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

He urged PDP supporters to turn out in large numbers for the rerun election in Gummi/Bukkuyum and Gusau/Tsafe federal constituency, as well as the Zamfara Central Senatorial District while remaining vigilant and focused.

“As law-abiding citizens, we are optimistic that our party members are ever ready to respect and comply with the directives of security agencies,” he added.

With this statement, Lugga reassured the public of the PDP’s commitment to peaceful and transparent elections in the state.
