Nollywood actor and Filmmaker, Kanayo O. Kanayo slammed Reno Omokri a former presidential media aide for trying to use sick Mr Ibu’s name to trend.
Reacting to Omokri’s tweet, Kanayo shared a video on his verified Instagram page on Thursday condemning Reno for calling out the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as regards actor Mr Ibu’s ill health.
Kanayo stated that giving is personal and should not be used to indict others.
“As actors, our heart goes out to our dear colleague, Mr Ibu. His family has done their best since it was reported last year. And now they have come out to say we have done our best, we need public support.
“Now, I condemn in strict terms Reno Omokri, who is coming to call Peter Obi’s name and so on. It is not a friendly thing. It’s wicked. And to Uche Maduagwu, who talked about shame on top actors. Shame on you too because you don’t have any value and level to call out our names.
“It’s an individual thing to support a colleague. It becomes a collective thing as the Actors Guild of Nigeria. Don’t forget some people learn to give personally, and privately. Even those who have given can also be appreciated on a scale of what they have given to John Okafor.
“We appreciate your efforts in giving but nobody should use it as a platform to castigate or indict those who have not given. It’s wrong and we don’t support it.
“So, this is a warning. If you want to give, give.”
Reno Omokri on his verified X page, @renoomokri, called out Peter Obi to pay the medical bills for the ill actor.
Omokri indicated that Mr Ibu had campaigned for Obi, during the 2023 general elections and as a result, he must help the actor in his trying times.
Recall that, comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, on Wednesday took to the internet to seek assistance as he battles an unidentified illness that’ll most likely cost him his leg.
