Following the Ibolo peace parley between Oyun and Offa local government, an Ibolo Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIMA) have been established to transform the enterprise environment towards wealth and employment creation in the area.
This is to curb the recent unemployment amongst youths in Ibolo land.
It was stated that the a 2-day strategic stakeholders engagement workshop. The strategic approach for the workshop was to identify products of comparative advantage for Ibolo land, brainstorm on resource mobilization and capacity building for enterprise development targeting the identified areas of comparative advantage and map out strategy for de-risking the enterprise environment.
The workshop attracted participants from all communities that constitute Ibolo land, government MDAs including Ministry of Agriculture, ARMTI, SMEDAN, Bank of Industry, Technological Incubation Hub and others.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to unveil the economic importance of Orange Flesh Sweet Potato (OFSP) particularly as an input for bread production – in fact, the Master Bakers Association of Nigeria has endorsed OFSP as an input for bread production and it can constitute up to 30% while wheat flour account for the rest.
The development Governance International Foundation, Dr. Gafar Alawode said that the leadership and vision demonstrated by the Ibolo Peace Parley and the executive of ICCIMA, from its erudite and visionary president to the entire members, must not be trivialized and it’s a demonstration of how good people of a community should always come together to solve problems and transform their communities.
