Lagos State government has called on Lagosians to take responsibility and be more safety-conscious as the end of the year approaches, emphasising that safety of lives must take priority over everything else.
The Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC), Mr. Lanre Mojola, made the call at the weekend, while speaking with newsmen about safety in the environment, against current excessive heat and dry conditions, highlighting that the current weather conditions were unfavorable and could lead to tiredness, high fever, blurred vision, and dehydration, which are uncomfortable and harmful to health.
The LSC boss warned residents not to compromise their safety and specifically advised against smoking in public places and storing flammable substances or fuel at home, stalls, or shops to prevent fire outbreaks and incidents that could lead to fatalities.
“Once there is life, there is hope for a better tomorrow. We can only hope for the best,” he said.
He urged everyone to support the government and be more safety-conscious to ensure that their homes, workplaces, and environment were safe and free from incidents that can endanger lives, adding: “By following these guidelines, we can all contribute to a safer and healthier community.”
