There was palpable tension early Tuesday morning in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State as armed operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) took over the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Though the real reason for the takeover was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, the Tribune Online gathered that it might not be unconnected with the battle for the ownership of the building, which is currently occupied by EFCC.
It was gathered that armed DSS operatives arrived at the venue as early as 7 O ‘ clock and prevented EFCC officials from gaining access to the building.
Efforts to get the reaction of the spokespersons of the two agencies Wilson Uwujare of EFCC and Dr Peter Ifunnaya of DSS failed as calls to their phone lines were not answered at the time of filing this report.
