Following his nomination on Tuesday, the Edo State House of Assembly has cleared Hon. Samson Raphael Osagie as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General-designate.
However, the clearance of Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole, son of Senator Adams Oshiomhole, was delayed till the next plenary on Monday.
The move follows the appointment by the newly sworn in 6th Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo for the two commissioner nominees, read at the plenary by the Clerk of the House, Audu Yahaya Omogbai,
The Speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku emphasised Osagie’s cognitive experience, having served in various capacities including twice in the state and National Assembly House.
Agbebaku stated that the decision to clear him is one of the privileges granted to the former lawmaker, who will now serve as the Attorney General of the state.
The Assembly also passed a motion urging the state government and security services to address rising kidnappings, cultism, and related killings in the state.
