The Chairman of the Oredo Government Council in Edo State, Dr. Tom Obaseki, has assured traders of the popular Ekiosa Market in Benin City, the capital of the state, of early reconstruction.
Obaseki gave the assurance on Monday when he undertook an assessment tour of the market to evaluate the level of work done so far.
According to the council chairman, the reconstruction of the market is in line with the state’s efforts to alleviate the plight of traders who lost millions of naira to the fire incident that engulfed the market sometime in August 2019.
Dr Obaseki reiterated the desire of the council to build a modern structure for traders, who, according to him, had agreed to relocate to temporary locations to allow the construction.
He commended the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for his support for the project, noting that with the huge sum required to complete the massive project, there is no way the Council would have been able to shoulder the bill
While urging the traders to continue to believe in the administration of Governor Obaseki in the state, the Oredo Council Chairman restated his administration’s willingness to complete the project and relocate the traders to the market, just as he commended traders for having confidence in the Council.
Reacting to the inspection tour, some traders, including Madam Ogiamien, in their separate remarks, hailed the Council Chairman for heeding and embarking on the construction work, just as they appealed for a speedy completion of the project.
