The leadership of Ikere Local Government in Ekiti State has dismissed media reports claiming that Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, condemned Governor Biodun Oyebanji over a planned rice distribution in the state.
In a joint statement, the Chairman of Ikere LGA, Hon. Olu Adamolekun, and his counterpart in Ikere West LCDA, Hon. Rufus Olorunfemi, described the report attributed to the revered cleric as false, incorrect, and advised the public to disregard it.
Adamolekun, who was present at the charity event in Ikere-Ekiti where the misleading reports were purportedly made, stated that Primate Ayodele actually praised the governor for his achievements and predicted that Oyebanji would win re-election in 2026.
The statement reads: “Our esteemed Governor has been recognized both within and beyond the state as a leader who has shown unwavering commitment to the people. As chairmen of the Ikere Council Area, we appreciate the governor’s commendable work for our people, particularly at the grassroots level. It has not been this good in recent years for our state.

“Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is a source of pride for Ekiti State. The cleric, during the event, acknowledged this and predicted that he would be re-elected for a second term. He also encouraged the governor to consider the Ikere community after his second term in office.
“We urge the public to disregard the erroneous report. We want to clarify that the cleric neither confronted nor mentioned the governor regarding the palliative rice distribution, which the state has not yet received.”
