The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in the Kogi gubernatorial election, Murtala Ajaka has praised Nigerians in the protest against economic challenges and urged them to embrace peaceful dialogue and allow the government to respond to their concerns.
According to him, “Protests of this nature are often hijacked by individuals with destructive motives,” emphasizing that violence, looting, and destruction of properties are not the right way to communicate grievances.
He expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to address the protesters’ concerns, highlighting his reputation as a listening leader who understands the language of protest.
Ajaka cautioned that continuing the protests in their current state could lead to further division, chaos, and unnecessary loss of lives and properties. Instead, he encouraged Nigerian youth to embrace peace, engage in dialogue, and work together towards a brighter future for the country.
Ajaka called on the protesters to end their demonstrations and trust in the government’s willingness to listen and respond.
He concluded with a heartfelt blessing for peace and harmony in Nigeria, emphasising the importance of unity in building a better nation for all.
