The chairman, Kwara State Council of Obas and Emirs and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, has admonished traditional title holders in the Ilorin Emirate against the indiscriminate sale of lands.

Tribune Online gathered that there has been an increase in cases of indiscriminate sale of land, especially, to multiple buyers within the metropolis and suburb of the state capital in recent times.

Speaking during the official turbanning ceremony of Alhaji Abdulkadir Mahamud as the new Alangua Oke-Ogun Ward of the Ilorin Emirate, the Emir emphasized that if land transactions are necessary, they should be leased instead and only with the Emir’s approval.

This, he said, is for the benefit of the Emirate’s future generations.

The monarch also charged the new Alangua Oke-Ogun Ward with the responsibility of promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.

In his acceptance speech, the new Alangua Oke-Ogun, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mahamud, thanked the Almighty Allah for His mercies and kindness and prayed for more fruitful years for the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Zulu Gambari.

The new Alangua promised to operate an open door policy and strive for the growth and development of Oke-Ogun ward, Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and Nigeria as a whole.

He also thanked well-wishers for the turbanning ceremony, especially, Balogun Fulani of Ilorin, Mogaji Oke-Ogun, Justice Alfa Belgore, the Abojumeji family, and the entire Oke-Ogun Ward’s sons and daughters.

Also speaking, the immediate younger brother of the new Alangua Oke-Ogun, Mallam Abdulkadir Abdul-Kareem Bolakale, described the Alangua as a man of peaceful disposition who is ready to listen to his people and ready to work for the development of Oke-Ogun ward.

The chairman turbaning committee, Alhaji Bashir Aduagba, said the new Alangua’s antecedents of community development preceded his turbaning as the Alangua Oke-Ogun.

He, therefore, prayed on behalf of the entire sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun for a peaceful and successful reign of the new Alangua Oke-Ogun, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mahamud.
