After a brief period of calm in the Federal Capital Territory, protesters returned to the streets on Saturday.

The protest, previously halted due to raids on residences and the arrest of organisers, is now actively underway.

The protest, which started on August 1, was expected to culminate today in a one-million-man march across the country.

It would be recalled that the National Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement, one of the organisers of the EndBadGovernance nationwide protests, Sanyaolu Juwon, had said they had scheduled Saturday for a one-million-man protest in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Juwon, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, said, “The Take It Back Movement (TIB), side-by-side with other organisers and organisations, will today lead a monumental one-million-man protest in each of the 36 states and the FCT, Abuja.”

“This event will mark a critical juncture in our nationwide EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign, which began on August 1, 2024.”

“It started as a planned 10-day protest but has evolved into a sustained and widespread movement, drawing participants from every corner of Nigeria and the diaspora,” the statement said.

At Eagles Square, in the nation’s capital, Abuja, there was a noticeable increase in the number of security agents stationed at the facility, a change from the past three days when there were no protests.

On Saturday, the protesters, who began their demonstration as early as 7 a.m., were chanting “End hunger” and “Reverse fuel subsidy removal,” among others.
