Solskjaer was sacked last Sunday following a 4-1 defeat to lowly rated Watford and that brought the end of his reign at Old Trafford.
Former assistant coach Michael Carrick was handed caretaker role at Old Trafford pending the announcement of Ralf Rangnick who is all but set to move to United.
Apart from the defeat to Young Boys, United were beaten by Aston Villa, Leicester City, Manchester City, Liverpool, and struggled to get results against Atalanta and Villarreal.
Despite Man United’s struggles, Ronaldo has continued to score some vital goals for the Red Devils, netting ten times in 14 appearances since his return to OldTrafford.
But United’s drop in standard like it was during Ronaldo’s first stint at the club under Sir Alex Ferguson alarmed the Portugal international and the newspaper reports that the former Real Madrid star challenged Solskjaer after the team were beaten 2-1 by Young Boys back in September.
The report claims that Solskjaer had told United’s players that he “liked the way they played” and was “really happy” with their attitude, but the Portugal captain was “bemused” by the manager’s feedback to the team and pointed out that the performance was “awful.”
After Solskjaer’s sack, United were able to bounce back with a win over Villarreal in the Champions League but they face another tough test this Sunday as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face league leaders, Chelsea
