A former National Director of Administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Alaba Adediwura, has emerged as the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Adediwura emerged after an election where he polled 70 votes to defeat his opponent, Professor Tayo Subair, who scored 33 votes.
In his remarks after the election on Tuesday, Adediwura expressed deep appreciation to the Faculty Board Members for the trust reposed in him.
The new dean also lauded his campaign for their unwavering commitment.
He also commended his opponent for the spirit of sportsmanship that characterized the election process.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust you have placed in me. I pledge to uphold the values of academic excellence, integrity, and collaboration.
“Together, we will build on the legacies of our past deans and chart a purposeful path forward for our Faculty,” he stated.
Adediwura also acknowledged the support and mentorship of past deans and academic elders, including Emeritus Professor Dibu Ojerinde and Professor Sola Ehindero.
He affirmed his readiness to draw on their wisdom as he steers the Faculty toward a future of innovation and relevance.
“As I assume office, the Faculty of Education will witness a leadership that blends intellectual rigor with administrative acumen and grassroots insight. It will be position for renewed impact in teaching, research, and public service,” he noted.
