Rector of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Ademola Olatunji, has urged lecturers not to compromise during invigilation of examinations in the institution. He stated this during a briefing organized by the Directorate of Examinations of the Polytechnic.

Dr. Olatunji also stated that the briefing was to familiarize the academic staff with the rules and regulations regarding invigilation as the 2020/2021 first semester examinations commmences.
The Dean, Directorate of Examinations, Mr. Tunde Lawal, noted that lnvigilators are important stakeholders in the conduct of examinations; thus they should discharge their duties effectively and with all sincerity of purpose .

Also speaking at the program, Dr O.KS. Emiola, who is a member of the Examination Committee, elaborately described the duties of the lnvigilators before, during, and after examinations, some of which include: ensuring that students come into the examination hall with appropriate writing materials, exams and school ID cards at least thirty minutes before the commencement of examinations. He further advised Invigilators to avoid using phones, laptops or anything that will reduce their concentration while invigilating the students. He also said signing students’ booklets at the appropriate time; proper serial arrangement of answer booklets by matriculation numbers, ensuring filling of examination malpractices form for erring students, reporting cases of student aggression and other forms of examination malpractice and indiscipline to the Supervisor.

Lecturers were further enjoined to stay focused and be extra vigilant, as some of the students have devised new and sophisticated tricks and tactics to impersonate and commit examination fraud, which may sometimes implicate invigilators.

The Dean Examinations and Time Table, Mr. Lawal Tunde in his vote of thanks expressed his appreciation to lecturers who attended the sensitization and urged them to discharge their duties assiduously.

In attendance at the briefing were Director of Affiliate Degree Programmes, Engr Dr. Kamoru Kadiri; immediate past Dean of Examination, Dr. S. A. Alayemi, Sub-Dean, School of Applied Sciences & Technology and Member of the Governing Council representing the Congregation, Dr. Sunday Asapa among others.
