Business and wellness experts have charged Nigerians, especially the feminine gender, on the need to manage stress and maintain healthy lifestyles since stress has detrimental effects on individuals, especially professionals.

Speaking on ‘The Impact of Burnout on Women Within the Work force: Challenges and Solutions,’ the Managing Director of UAC, Oluyemi Oloyede, said the average woman is always under undue pressure due to her ability to multi-task.

The UAC boss argued that while the society expects the woman to be perfect, she must, however, know her strength and when to seek help where one is needed.

Similarly, Group Managing Director, Medbury Healthcare, Dr Itunu Akinware, advised individuals to recognise their stress levels so as to know when to avoid burnout.

According to Akinware, she trivialised the issue of burnout for many years until it happened to her which led her to visit a wellness centre.

TV host, actor and producer, Stephnie Coker Aderinokun, noted that prioritising and learning when to say no is one way to deal with burnout.

Corroborating Stephnie’s position, Omon Anenih, Founder and Chief Executive, The Dew Centre, posited that burnout affects people differently, noting that no two people experience it at the same time or to the same degree, hence the need for everybody to understand the highest degree of their pressure point.

Convener of Colours of Wellbeing and Founder, Citisquare Africa, Dr Uche Nnama, said the decision to organise the event stemmed from the need to sensitise individuals to the imperative of prioritising their wellbeing for maximum efficiency.
